Libras & The In Between
By: Rosa Mendoza
Libras shape society with their fearless hearts. Compassionate and problematic, Libras are one of the hardest signs to pin down. Representing justice and beauty, nobody puts Libra in a corner — simply because they won’t let you.
The wit and wisdom of Libras have long been a source of inspiration (and confusion) for the rest of us. Today, we’re taking a moment to explore what this sign teaches us about balance, duality, and the art of being both. Below, a few Libra icons who embody the sign’s signature mix of grace and “wait, did that just happen?” energy. Sorry, Gandhi.
Cardi B — The Duality Queen
Libras are a cardinal sign — they go with their hearts and show up themselves every step of the way. And who is more cardinal than the self-proclaimed Ghetto Goddess herself, Cardi B?
One moment she’s talking to Bernie Sanders about healthcare for all, the next she’s throwing a shoe at her nemesis at the Met Gala. Duality — and the confidence to express it — is a lesson we can all learn from Libras. We can never make everyone happy, so why not fight for what’s right and be unapologetically yourself while doing it?
Lil Wayne — The Alchemist of Emotion
If Cardi shows us how to embrace both sides of ourselves, Lil Wayne reminds us how to transform them. Compassion is a never-ending workbook, especially when it feels like most people don’t deserve it.
We claim to understand the pain in another’s heart, diagnosing patterns yet still holding a grudge. What do we lose by creatively restructuring the harm others have caused? The damage is done — but pride perpetuates pain. Wayne’s quote challenges us to reimagine hate as love, and whether you’re ready for that shift or not, today we celebrate the creativity it takes to change emotional paradigms.
John Lennon — The Poet of Balance
In a world constantly at odds, Lennon’s message captures the essence of Libra balance: love as both self-acceptance and outward compassion. The give and take required to love yourself while showing love to others is a lifelong effort. This quite reminds us that if you’re not letting love grow you may be sowing the opposite.
Holistic love lives in the in-between — the very place Libras feel most at home.
Gandhi — The Spiritual Scales
Finally, Mahatma Gandhi takes Libra ideals to their highest frequency. At its core, unity consciousness is the awareness that all life is interconnected — that every being, action, and thought is part of a single, divine whole.
For Gandhi, this unity wasn’t an abstract philosophy but a way of life. The concepts he spoke of: Ahimsa (nonviolence) and Satyagraha (truth-force) were active expressions of spiritual balance — justice without cruelty, strength without dominance. Gandhi’s Libra energy reminds us that peace isn’t passive; it’s the most courageous form of harmony.
